Artist Residency Announcement | Fivesparks, Harvard MA

I’m excited to share that I’ve been accepted into the Fivesparks artist residency for 2025! This will be my first residency, running for six weeks from January 13th to February 24th. I plan to use this time to develop multiple bodies of work while documenting the entire process. I’ve been exploring residencies as a way to structure my production into shorter sprints, and this feels like the perfect way to kick off the year.

I'm currently preparing. I recently salvaged a series of hollowcore wood doors from a local home about to be renovated. I'll be repurposing them by cutting panels to serve as the foundation for my work over the next six weeks. These will feature black and white compositions similar to a piece I completed last year, which sold to a collector in September.

Alongside this, I’m challenging myself to create and record one scribble each day of the residency, gradually building them into an evolving installation. I’ll also be continuing my Paintball series, aiming to complete the second piece by the end of the six weeks. My room assignment will come in this week, and once I’m set up, I’ll start documenting the space, materials, and early process.

This residency feels like a significant shift from my regular practice. While living in my studio full-time at Western Avenue Studios has its perks, it can blur the line between work and life. It’s easy to lose focus on larger bodies of work. This residency gives me the chance to break that cycle—offering space to focus and refine my process.

There’s a sense of clarity knowing this space is dedicated solely to creation. I’m looking forward to the daily 30-minute commute to Harvard, MA, and I’ll be sharing frequent updates throughout the residency.

Stay tuned!
